ILLAWONG WALK

Leaves from Guthega Village and is one of our favourites. It is a 35 minute car drive from Mill Cabin to Guthega Village. The trail follows along Snowy River Valley through alpine heath and towering, majestic snow gums, all the way up to Illawong Hut, one of the oldest buildings still standing in the park. Following the trail for 100m beyond the hut you’ll come to the swing bridge. You have to cross over one at a time—It’s well worth a look. On the other side of the bridge you can access the river and deep your feet in, have a rest or picnic. Make sure you take in the stunning views on the bridge of the boulder strewn Snowy River. This is an out and back, turning around at the swing bridge. Total 6.4km

THREDBO RIVER TRACK

Starting from Thredbo Village—23 minute car drive from Mill Cabin. You access this walk at the far end of the village near the golf course. The walk winds its way along the Thredbo River and will come out at the Alpine way just near Dead Horse Gap. You will stroll through some lovely snow gum forests and enjoy views down to the river from the cascades lookout and various bridges. An enjoyable way to explore the Thredbo River and the valley environments. It’s a 4.8km one way walk so if you want to go all the way to Dead Horse and back it will be a total of 9.6km.

PORCUPINE ROCKS

Leaves from Perisher Valley Reservoir which is a 32 minute car drive from Mill Cabin. Drive to Perisher and turn left on to Porcupine Road and then turn right on to Water Supply Storage Road and park by the side of the road. Trail starts here.
It’s a spectacular walk through wildflowers, native shrubs and tussock fields. It slowly climbs to Porcupine Rocks where you will get breathtaking views of the Thredbo Valley and Main Range.

SAWPIT CREEK

There are several walks that leave from Sawpit Creek which is a 18 minute car drive from Mill Cabin. Turn left into Kosciuszko Tourist Park. From here there are several walking options; Waterfall walking track (6km), Pallaibo track (11.2km) and Sawpit track (2.6k). All walks are through bushy alpine scrub and well worth a visit.

The most tranquil and peaceful place I think I’ve ever stayed. Surrounded by snow gums and overlooking snow-capped mountains, Mill Cabin is a truly special place. Perfectly at home in nature, but incredibly comfortable and well-appointed. We honestly never wanted to leave - such a blissful few days here.

AMAZING!!! By the far the most amazing place we have stayed.Trent and Niki have created such an incredible Airbnb - highly recommend. The location is completely secluded but close enough to head to the snow or into town if you’d like. The cabin has everything you need from cooking utensils/staples, fire wood, board games, beautiful styling, and the most amazing scenery/view.Definitely an experience we won’t ever forget - I can’t wait to stay here again :)

Mill Cabin was just pure serenity. We were greeted by wallabies, hopping around in the early snow, then entered the cabin to find the most delightful sanctuary. Every detail was considered, from the textures of the towels to the beautiful ceramics in the kitchen. We absolutely loved the design of the cabin, nestled into the gum trees, taking in the magnificent views from every window. We feel revived & indulged, the perfect place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Thank you Niki & Trent for a gorgeous experience.

"Can’t recommend Mill Cabin highly enough; the space is beautiful, peaceful and sparkling clean, with high quality products and thoughtful touches. The surrounds are pristine, wonderfully quiet and absolutely private. There is wildlife (kangaroos, deer and even a wombat!) that approach quite close to the cabin and really add to the experience. Communication with Niki was effortless and she was able to provide me lots of helpful info on the area. I feel nourished and very well rested after my 5 night stay- a much needed detox from city life. Will definitely return."
